About the Department/College
The Department of Psychological Sciences is located on the Flagstaff Mountain Campus of Northern Arizona University (NAU), situated at the base of San Francisco Peaks. NAU is an R1 institution that values teacher-scholar faculty pursing excellence in teaching and scholarship. NAU recently launched an innovative initiative aimed at improving health outcomes for all Arizonans, particularly those in rural, Indigenous, and underserved communities. Flagstaff is a small city (population 70,000) located at the southern edge of the Colorado Plateau (7,000' elevation), 30 miles from Sedona, 90 miles from Grand Canyon National Park, and 150 miles from Phoenix. The Flagstaff area offers 4-season outdoor activities and has been consistently voted as one of the top college towns in America.
About the Position
Drives the development and management of Psychological Sciences' Graduate Program and related initiatives (community-based programs, career readiness, grant support) and oversees the program marketing and staffing requirements to ensure the programs meet detailed objectives in applicant recruitment and alumni outreach.
Responsibilities Include
40% - Graduate Program Support
- Assists in graduate program functions such as assistantships, scheduling, and enrollment.
- Responsible for graduate program events for recruitment, current students, career readiness initiatives and alumni outreach.
- Supports coordinator/director with issues related to equitable practices for historically marginalized students.
- Supports recruitment initiatives for graduate programs. -
20% - Community Initiative Support
- Supports community-based initiatives through outreach and relationship development.
- Leads or assists with design, development, implementation, and management of program(s) or project(s).
- Collaborates with and builds relationships with community organizations.
- Provides status reports on designated projects; coordinates, and/or assists with proposal writing to develop additional funding.
20% - Grants Support
- Supports faculty in the develop of grant proposal budgets and ensure that project budgets are in line with project needs and are within the guidelines of the funding agency and NAU.
- Assists in communication with university offices of sponsored projects and financial oversight to ensure compliance with university regulations and policies.
- Manage grant-related budgets for grant-active faculty and staff.
- Assists in communication with offices of post-award sponsored projects and financial oversight during the lifetime of active research grants.
- Maintains a system of recording and tracking of grant spending and progress reports.
20% - Other
- Support Psychological Sciences administrative needs as requested.
- Develops, implements, and maintains social network/website systems and procedures for Psychological Sciences.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related field.
- 1 to 2 years of grants management experience.
- 1 to 2 years of project or program management experience.
*A combination of related education, experience, and training may be used as an equivalent to the above Minimum Qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Program management experience in an academic unit.
- Experience working with university pre-award and post-award offices of sponsored projects and financial oversight.
- Website/social media development maintenance.

Compensation
- Hourly Rate is $40.00.
Pre-Employment Check
Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, an employment history verification and a degree verification (in some cases) prior to employment. You may also be required to complete a fingerprint background check. Also, as an employer in the state of Arizona, NAU is required to participate in the federal E-Verify program that assists employers with verifying new employees' right to work in the United States.

Therefore, per AZ Revised Statute, Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, employment history investigation, degree verification (in some cases) and fingerprinting. Notice of Availability of the Annual Fire and Security Report
Each year Northern Arizona University releases an Annual Security Report. The report is a result of a federal law known as the Clery Act. The report includes Clery reportable crime statistics for the three most recent completed calendar years and discloses procedures, practices and programs NAU uses to keep students and employees safe including how to report crimes or other emergencies occurring on campus. In addition, the Fire Safety Report is combined with the Annual Security Report for the NAU Flagstaff Mountain Campus as this campus has on-campus student housing. This report discloses fire safety policies and procedures related to on-campus student housing and statistics for fires that occurred in those facilities.
