Manager, Hearing and Vision Health
Reports to: Division Director
FLSA Status: Exempt, Salaried
Location: Phoenix, AZ (Hybrid)
Salary: $60,000 annually
About AzAAP: The Arizona Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AzAAP) is committed to improving the health of Arizona children and supporting the pediatric professionals who care for them. AzAAP is the state's leading professional pediatric tax-exempt charitable organization dedicated to promoting the physical, mental, and social health and well-being of every Arizona child. Representing approximately 1,200 health care professionals - including pediatricians, pediatric sub-specialists, nurses, residents, medical students, dentists, academicians, hospital administrators and other allied health professionals - AzAAP aspires to the highest standards in providing the latest evidence-based and current recommended guidelines to its members. The Chapter also works year-round to educate and engage policymakers, parents, school professionals, community caregivers and all who impact the lives of children with the goal of fostering a statewide focus on promoting child health, preventive care, and wellness.
Position Summary: The Manager of Hearing and Vision Health coordinates and oversees the daily functions within the Hearing and Vision Health priority area of the organization.
Primary Responsibilities*:
- Under the direction of the Division Director, coordinates the day-to-day activities of all related initiatives in the Hearing and Vision Health priority area.
- Maintains tracking sources and collects data to submit to the Division Director to meet requirements for each related program, project, and initiative.
- Manages the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) Vision and Hearing Screening Training Program.
- Coordinates educational projects, provider trainings, and events.
- Maintains relationships with providers and partners relevant to multiple projects.
- Works in partnership with members to implement strategies of the Hearing and Vision Health Priority Area and its related committees, continuing education, projects, and workgroups and task forces.
- Attends coalition and community meetings to represent priority health initiatives.
- Works with partner organizations to promote awareness campaigns targeting hearing and vision screening.
- Coordinates efforts to distribute information to AzAAP members by working with the Division and Priority Area team.
- Responsible for actively participating in and promoting Hearing and Vision Health initiatives within all AzAAP continuing education and quality improvement opportunities, fundraising events, committees, and projects. This includes but is not limited to the annual CME Pediatrics in the Red Rocks Conference.
- Responsible for securing and coordinating minimum funding through sponsorships, exhibitors, educational grants, and other fundraising efforts to support education activities.
- Responsible for maintaining contract and grant compliance wherever applicable.
- Where applicable, supports and coordinates the activities of other managers within the Priority Area Team.
- Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience: While this role is responsible for programming related to the field of pediatric medicine, no prior medical or health-related experience/education is required. Our members are the medical experts – your role is to manage projects and communication to improve the health of Arizona children and support the pediatric professionals who care for them. Any relevant health-related experience is considered a bonus, not a requirement.
- Candidates with previous membership association/organization experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Demonstrated success planning and managing projects with concrete deadlines, multiple stakeholders, and complex operational and logistical needs.
- 3+ years experience managing programs, grants, or grant-funded projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in education, business, communications, child health, or other health-related field preferred.

Salary & Benefits:
- This position has a salary $60,000 annually.
- AzAAP offers generous benefits to its team members, including 3 weeks of paid time off each year, increasing to 5 weeks as your time with AzAAP increases.
- AzAAP observes all federal holidays and provides extended paid breaks for Thanksgiving and Winter Holidays.
- AzAAP pays 100% of base medical insurance premiums for all full-time employees, with the option for more extensive coverage (paid by the employee).

Staff are also encouraged to continue their professional development by attending conferences, trainings, and events.
Remote Work Policy: AzAAP has a hybrid work policy. Staff are able to complete most of their work from a remote setting, although it must be a consistent dedicated workspace. All employees must reside within commuting distance of AzAAP's Phoenix office and be available for occasional in-person work. When working remotely, AzAAP staff are expected to maintain high levels of professionalism and maintain standard work hours of 8:00am-5:00pm. While staff may have occasional flexibility to adjust their hours for one-off personal needs, the expectation is that staff will work a consistent 8:00am-5:00pm schedule.
